Yurk, this is not about taking something from you and giving it to someone else. Ending racism is about building a bigger pie - not giving you a smaller slice.

To do that, we have to level the playing field. That begins with understanding that the systems once designed to keep minorities out of society, also kept them from contributing to our society. The losses to our nation are incalculable and we cannot afford it any longer.

Instead of our systems supporting a growing country, our systems are draining our pocketbooks dry.

For example, instead of investing a fortune in the education of all children, we spent three times as much building prisons for 2.3-million people.

Instead of building homes for all people, we built homes for whites only and ended up with such poor communities, they can't support themselves.

Instead of the best educated police forces in the world, we have the best armed police forces in the world.

Instead of the healthiest, most physically fit people in the world, we have cheap food, low paid servers and poor health.

The list goes on.

Rural America is my home. I serve diner, gourmet, seven course, and homecooked thoughts — but spare me chain food served on thoughtless trains of thought.
