Your story reminded me of Anne Moody's autobiography, Coming of Age in Mississippi. It was published in 1968 and on our reading list in high school. Almost fifty years later, I still had the book and read it again. As hindsight does so well, then and only then did I realize how much Moody had influenced me.

That is the long way of saying, that I think telling these personal stories is so very important.
