Your friend's daughter needs time and space to sort this out for herself. Your friend was already in her sixties before she figured all this out, so It very well could take her daughter a long time as well.
By then it could be too late, and her mother could be gone. For that reason, I recommend your friend keep a journal and leave it for her daughter. Being able to speak to her daughter when she is ready, and being able to hear her mother again through her own written words, could be more valuable than anyone can imagine.
