Willful Ignorance is slowly, but surely, making its way into the law; challenging the "I did not know" excuse (aka plausible deniability). As the Willful Ignorance theory goes, when people accept a job, get themselves elected, or speak with authority, the public has a right to expect them to know what they are talking about. A willful ignorance law, would have made Santos' lies criminal.
