While gang-related shootings involving 2 or more deaths are considered mass-shootings, there is one very important distinction.

For over 100 years, from mobsters in New York and Chicago to the gangs of today, the pattern of urban violence has remained consistent. Gang-shootings usually occur inside communities where the shooters live and work. Moreover, both sides are usually armed. Since 1982, these gang-related shootings account for 40% of all mass-shootings.

Since 1982, a new and very different pattern has emerged. 60% of all mass-shooters are white males with NO gang affiliation. These white killers are travelling to other communities in search of very specific targets (race, religion, sex or occupation).

That is predatory behaviour; these people are hunting human beings. We are being hunted down and exterminated.

I'm a rural American and when I talk to gun owners about these statistics, I get wholehearted support for gun control. Just saying...

Rural America is my home. I serve diner, gourmet, seven course, and homecooked thoughts — but spare me chain food served on thoughtless trains of thought.
