What do you mean by “western” countries. What qualifies as western?

Britain, America and Singapore are representative democracies. While Britain and Singapore are parliamentary democracies, America uses the two-party system.

Instead of representative democracy, Switzerland uses direct democracy which is the closest any country has ever gotten to full democracy but makes it an outlier among all other democracies. Would you include, or exclude, Switzerland in your list of western countries?

Unlike America, once Singapore declared independence it never needed police power to compel civic cooperation. The reason is very simple; the divisions between races, cultures and religions, were permanently settled by an agreement to never offer “special privileges or rights” to any group, or individual ever –and then, the Singaporean government kept their word. As the founding father of Singapore once said, Singaporeans learned what NOT to do, by watching America’s struggle to maintain democracy.

That said, Singaporean democracy was almost 50 years older, and far more experienced than China was in 2013 when Xi came to power. Just like every other democracy, China has its very own unique approach. The Chinese used bureaucracy and a one-party system to create their own representative democracy. Just like the oligarchs who represent the “interests” of the American people in our democracy, Chinese bureaucrats represent the interests of Chinese citizens. Like other young democracies, China is experiencing the same kinds of challenges all democracies, including ours have gone through.

And what do you mean when you say, the 2 examples I cited were accomplished with police state control and the elimination of free speech?

The American government has used the police power to stifle anyone and every civic effort to move towards direct democracy. The police silenced Native Americans by locking adults on reservations, then removing their children and locking them in schools run by white people. The police silenced anyone who wanted the right to represent themselves, by voting – including black people, women, Chinese, Armenians, Mexicans, South Americans, etc. How is that different from, say China, or Russia for that matter?

If you are talking about white countries, why not just say that?

Rural America is my home. I serve diner, gourmet, seven course, and homecooked thoughts — but spare me chain food served on thoughtless trains of thought.
