Wei, one of your commenters raised a good point badly, but a good point nonetheless. Simply put, the countries you are talking about have never been colonized by western powers. For ten thousand years, Japan, Turkey, Thailand, China, Afghanistan, Iran, Bhutan, Korea, Tonga and Mongolia have remained sovereign (autonomous, independent, self-governing) nations.

Given colonization’s brutal history, promoting western thinking to people who have avoided the fate of the colonized, would indeed, be a delicate affair.

For that reason, I would be grateful, if you would reverse this essay and explain the philosophies of the people that we are attempting to persuade to our way of thinking.
