This morning I was catching up on the union movement and ran across a video that made me think of Laura Quainoo. Two hours later, came my Six On a Saturday post.

Just to peak people’s interest, I took notes on this extraordinary woman interviewed in this video….

The roads with Mariah Parker (AKA Linqua Franqa)

1. Parker is a 2nd term County Commissioner, in Athens Georgia, reping for workers, fighting the cops, sworn into office on Malcolm X Autobiography

2. Parker, aka Linqua Franca, makes hip hop music, her single “Wurk” (is a call to workers everywhere to fight the bosses and get what they deserve. In the song, Parker asks which side on you on, my people, which side are you on?. She explains the history of that question in the interview. 3. Ph.D. in language and literacy education, University of Georgia. Her new album is her dissertation for her doctorate.

4. Parker has a five-month old baby (now a year old😊)

5. Podcast “Waiting on Reparations” is Parkers's podcast.

Heads up. don't be surprised when the video starts. The man interviewing Parker looks lik a hillbilly, but he is one of the best rural voices in the country.

Rural America is my home. I serve diner, gourmet, seven course, and homecooked thoughts — but spare me chain food served on thoughtless trains of thought.
