This morning, I finished reading the indictment. Instead of the burden being lifted, it has grown heavier. These are very serious charges, and my concerns about Trump’s behaviour have completely changed. Before I read the indictment, I would have accepted fines, but not anymore. Trump cannot keep his mouth shut. The only way to protect this nation is to put Trump in prison, where the information he acquired as president can be kept under constant guard.

When I was a consultant for Lockheed and Northrop, I had security clearance. I'd worked on the stealth bomber for 2 years, before the project became public knowledge. Every night, we locked drawings, sketches, blueprints, and notes in a safe, and turned on a security system connected to the local police station. When we pulled the bomber out of the hangar to photograph it, the military closed the skies, roads and all vantage points for miles (while helicopters and fighter jets flew above us). Our photographer’s film was taken and developed by the military.

You learn so much when you are working on a project like that, it is difficult to remember what is secret and what is public knowledge. Every once in a while, one of us would say something we shouldn't have, and have to report the violation. Along the way I learned the dangers involved in knowing this nation’s secrets. It was scary stuff, and I was relieved when the project ended.

If Trump is not convicted, our nation truly is in danger.

Rural America is my home. I serve diner, gourmet, seven course, and homecooked thoughts — but spare me chain food served on thoughtless trains of thought.
