Staying viligant and watching over our own communities is essential.

On Tuesday evening, I opened my JTA newsletter to find an article that punched me in the gut. Louisville Jewish community hires ex-officer who was at the scene of Breonna Taylor killing.

On Wednesday I spent the day on the phone screaming my head off and emailing like crazy "no, No, NO". I was not alone, by any means or measure.

Yesterday, I opened my JTA newsletter to find an article. Ex-officer at the scene of Breonna Taylor killing resigns from Louisville Jewish community security role.

There's still a long way to go. The people who were trusted with the authority to hire this man need to be removed. We also need to find out who, or what motivated them to hire him at all. Nonetheless, notice has been sent loud and clear - this will not be tolerated, not now, not ever.

Rural America is my home. I serve diner, gourmet, seven course, and homecooked thoughts — but spare me chain food served on thoughtless trains of thought.
