Rogue4Gay, I realize you were trying to make a point, but Uganda was a poor choice. American evangelicals have lobbying Uganda for a very, very, very long time. The common strategy evangelicals use is food and medicine in exchange for converts. To understand these complex human interactions, I recommend Barbara Killingworth's book, The Poisonwood Bible.

Unfortunately, the result of the most virulent of American evangelical lobbyists, was Uganda's any-gay bill. IOW, part of the evangelical's exchange for food and medicine bargain was that bill. This article helps explain the situation.

Uganda's anti-gay bill refocuses attention on US evangelical influence

White people, especially Americans, know so little about their own history, they keep repeating it. For example, very few white Americans have even heard of eugenics. Nonetheless, the founders of the American Eugenics Movement were deeply involved, and heavily invested in the Nazi regime's final solution. These Americans included Andrew Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, the Harriman family, and Supreme Court Justice, Oliver Wendall Holmes. Until 1973, their eugenics ideology was taught in high school biology classes and Ivy League Universities. In these American's eugenics ideology, gay people were in the same unwanted boat as black people, Jews, Roma people, Middle Eastern, Catholics, etc.

Personally, eugenics ideology and Uganda's anti-gay bill are just two examples of the many reasons, that I avoid white cultural norms like the plague. As my mother used to say of these matters, "assimilation will consume you".

Rural America is my home. I serve diner, gourmet, seven course, and homecooked thoughts — but spare me chain food served on thoughtless trains of thought.
