Reporting in on day six of life with frozen pipes. I've never experienced a hard freeze hit so fast before.

Weatherman says sun will be out on Sunday and the temperature will get as high as 36-degrees which should be enough to thaw my pipes. If not, I'm looking at another week with drooling faucets, instead of running water.

At some point in time, urban and suburban infrastructure will not be enough to protect residents and businesses from extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme winds, or extreme weather events.

This week's water pressure failure in southern California is an example of urban infrastructure failures that will get worse and worse. You can have all the water in the world, but if you can't pump that water, you cannot use it.

Rural America is my home. I serve diner, gourmet, seven course, and homecooked thoughts — but spare me chain food served on thoughtless trains of thought.
