Oh Penguin. Thanks to you, that silverback gorilla analogy is stuck in my brain.

Every time I see another video of police confrontations, I'm slapped in the face by the tone of voice and the way they bark orders.

Whether its Pentland, a civilian or a cop, these kinds of people, usually men, have absolutely no control over themselves. One drop of adrenaline triggers a flood that gets them so high, so fast, they've dragged children, old women, and grown men to the ground or shot a man in the back or choked a man to death, before they know what happened.

They climb off dead and broken bodies, look at what they've done and feel nothing. Chauvin's empty eyes and expressionless face as he stared at the camera was the face of a junkie feeling heroine enter his bloodstream. Chauvin is a junkie - he was high as a kite that day, a strung out, full blown addict. His choice of drugs was adrenaline - the all powerful brain chemical that made him feel like a G-d.

First these brutal men discover how good adrenaline makes them feel. Then they discover they can get a fix by behaving like razorback gorillas. Then they start chasing that fix - by repeating animalistic behaviour.

This country needs to get a grip on brain chemical addiction. No one in their right mind, wants to shoot up adrenaline.
