Oh Penguin, sometimes you really get to me. I was barely half-way through when memories started pouring in and I was laughing so hard I couldn’t keep reading. Inasmuch as I am not a comedic breakdown artist, “you had to be there” was the only way I could describe these hilarious moments in my own situational comedy (aka life). No worries, my drooling laugh eyes dried up and I read on.

And there it was, your nice and tidy breakdown of my “you had to be there” memories. I tell you Penguin, when my family and friends get together, their favorite thing to do is remember those hilarity producing moments.

Thanks to you, my very visual brain ran a memory video and I finally saw why “you had to be there”. It was the evidence piled up behind her when she denied it. It was the way that cop doubled over in laughter, when she said it (that poor cop laughed until he was too weak to write a ticket - literally). It was where my hands were when my daughter barked at me. It was the way you could see her realize what she’d just said. It was what she said, when she could finally breathe again – I mean really, who uses their first breath of air to state the obvious.

Good read, Penguin, good read indeed.

Rural America is my home. I serve diner, gourmet, seven course, and homecooked thoughts — but spare me chain food served on thoughtless trains of thought.
