Normally, I would take my time and compose a reasoned comment. Not this time.

This time, I must respond from the depths you took me, lest I lose it. So, please keep in mind, that my comments are neither reasoned nor considered. You are getting the same raw material that my mind gives me to work with. I will offer my thoughts in the order that you triggered them.

Whiteness was formally created and enacted in 1493. The ‘Doctrine of Discovery’ remained in effect for five hundred and thirty years.

On March 30, 2023, the Vatican's Dicastery’s for Culture and Education and for Promoting Integral Human Development jointly repudiated the doctrine of discovery as "not part of the teaching of the Catholic Church.

A quick summary makes my case…

“The Papal Bull "Inter Caetera," issued by Pope Alexander VI on May 4, 1493, played a central role in the Spanish conquest of the New World. The document supported Spain’s strategy to ensure its exclusive right to the lands discovered by Columbus the previous year.

The Bull stated that any land not inhabited by Christians was available to be "discovered," claimed, and exploited by Christian rulers and declared that "the Catholic faith and the Christian religion be exalted and be everywhere increased and spread, that the health of souls be cared for and that barbarous nations be overthrown and brought to the faith itself." This "Doctrine of Discovery" became the basis of all European claims in the Americas as well as the foundation for the United States’ western expansion.

In the US Supreme Court in the 1823 case Johnson v. McIntosh, Chief Justice John Marshall’s opinion in the unanimous decision held "that the principle of discovery gave European nations an absolute right to New World lands." In essence, American Indians had only a right of occupancy, which could be abolished.”

While these two excerpts from the Doctrine of Discovery illustrate that in 1493, “Christendom” was interchangeable with “whiteness”, skin colour had not yet been symbolized.

“Wherefore, as becomes Catholic kings and princes, after earnest consideration of all matters, especially of the rise and spread of the Catholic faith, as was the fashion of your ancestors, kings of renowned memory, you have purposed with the favor of divine clemency to bring under your sway the said mainlands and islands with their residents and inhabitants and to bring them to the Catholic faith.”

“We trust in Him from whom empires and governments and all good things proceed, that, should you, with the Lord’s guidance, pursue this holy and praiseworthy undertaking, in a short while your hardships and endeavors will attain the most felicitious result, to the happiness and glory of all Christendom.

Please Note! In order to point out the importance of knowing who is funding and controlling various institutions in our country, I linked to the right wing, billionaire project known as the Gilder Lerhman Institute for American History above.

The information above is correct, however, the Gilder Lerhman Institute cherry picks history to advance their personal agenda. The fact that Gilder and Lerhman personally “own” historical documents – including signed copies of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 13th Amendment, which banned slavery – puts them in a powerful position in the world of historians and educators.

Gilder and Lerhman are following in the footsteps of the World’s Fairs that spread eugenics theory of scientific racism. This critique of the New-York Historical Society's Alexander Hamilton exhibit explains.

I wrote about the World’s Fairs’ eugenics propaganda in this article.

Rural America is my home. I serve diner, gourmet, seven course, and homecooked thoughts — but spare me chain food served on thoughtless trains of thought.
