My mind automatically started translating the vernacular and I swear you were channeling my mother. I don’t know if she said this stuff daily, or just strong enough to make it feel that way to me, but it was super-glued to my brain. The neighborhoods of my youth were really rough. Without my mother’s determination to keep us out of trouble, until she could get us out, I’d still be there.
