My appetite for citizen reporters and citizen scholars is insatiable.
I read Aeon several times a week. That on-line magazine is where I found writers like Sarah Smarsh who quickly became one of my all-time favorite writers. Here on Medium, I follow and read the work of several citizen reporters and citizen scholars.
Whenever I "peruse" twitter, I am hunting for citizen reporters. Right now, the only on-the-ground reporting on the hurricanes available is coming from citizen reporters.
I also read the work of independent journalists and reporters who work in collaboratives. The International Consortium of Independent Journalists (ICIJ) is awesome.
I still read TIME magazine, listen to NPR while driving and subscribe to the newsletters of a few still employed scholars and journalists. Lewis Lapham died and Lapham's Quarterly is publishing a whole lot of his old writings, so I keep reading.
