Mitch, I think labels are throwing a lot of people off course and do my utmost not to let labels interfere with my thinking.

For example, "progressive" is utterly meaningless. People use the term neo-liberal, and a whole lot of people think they mean new-liberals. By comparison, Trump supporters are more strongly aligned than all the rest of country combined.

Zionism is a Christian concept, dating back to the 16th century and imported to the Americas by European-Christian immigrants. In the 1900s, Christian Zionists began applying the term "Zionist" to Jews fleeing Christian persecution in Europe. Unfortunately, the application of the term Zionist to Jews, enabled Christian Zionists to hide from public view. I mention this history, because Trump's base is made up of evangelicals, most of whom abide by a theology that revolves around Christian Zionism. IOW, Trump is answering to white Christian evangelicals at the expense of both, American Jews and Israelis.

Americans who do not know this history, are confused about what is, and is not, anti-Semitic. As result, a lot of them are speaking and acting like anti-Semites.

American Christian Zionists were the only reason Netanyahu was still in power when Trump was elected. Trump's actions regarding Israel ignited the fuse that exploded last October when Hamas attacked Israel. Yes, I hold Trump responsible.

Inasmuch as Ukrainian President, Zelensky, is Jewish, but not a Zionist, America's right wing extremist leaders are turning American evangelicals against him. Again, I hold Trump responsible. However, I also hold Biden responsible for his failure to confront America's Christian evangelicals/ Zionists/Nationalists who've been playing the key role in Israel through their control of the Republican Party.

As for the nuclear button, I too am terrified of Trump.

Rural America is my home. I serve diner, gourmet, seven course, and homecooked thoughts — but spare me chain food served on thoughtless trains of thought.
