Just a small addition.

The Revolutionary War ended and discussion, debate, and correspondence followed.

At long last, people reached agreement and wrote it down on paper. The Constitution would become the document by which all future generations would weigh their choices and decisions.

The very first sentence of the Constitution establishes the purpose by which every sentence that followed would be judged, and all future generations would have the right, and the duty, to hold their government accountable.

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

Sometimes a list is easier to remember than a paragraph, so here is the list of our government’s responsibilities:

1. establish Justice

2. insure domestic Tranquility

3. provide for the common defence

4. promote the general Welfare

5. secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity

That’s it folks, that’s the sole purpose of government. And yet, in the last 30 years, I have not heard anyone mention government’s responsibility to insure domestic Tranquility – have you? I have not heard one judge, politician, scholar, talking head, preacher, teacher or citizen mention, let alone discuss, domestic Tranquility – have you?

The second amendment is in perfect harmony with domestic tranquility for it begins with the words, “A well regulated Militia”. It does not say a “citizen”. It does not say “citizens”. It says, “A well regulated Militia,”

It also says, “a well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State,” It does not say, armed citizens are necessary to the security of the state. Without a well regulated Militia, the founders could not see a way to insure domestic tranquility and provide for the common defence - and neither can I.

If the police are America’s “well regulated Militia”, why are we arming people against them?

There are 800,000 police officers in this country, and more than 390-Million guns in the hands of citizens. 1:487 are impossible odds – no wonder the police are always “afraid for their lives”.

Why should we pay taxes to support police departments, when so many citizens are eager to do the job for free? I’m ready to disband the police, fire everyone of them and close every police department down.

It’s time we hold the armed citizens of this country responsible for fulfilling their responsibility to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general welfare and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity. That’s crazy talk but isn’t that what’s happening – right before our very eyes?

We are watching armed citizens murder little kids and keep insisting this is domestic tranquility.
