Instead of politicians, I think people need to start talking about themselves.
What are you doing for your country? How much thought and time have you personally invested in civic life? Do you belong to even one civic organization? Have you run for local office in your community? Do you attend any local government meetings? Do you work on civic education programs in your community? Do you work to support and improve civic life (library, hospital, parks)?
Have you attended even one political party meeting in your county or state? Have you attended any leadership development classes or programs? Have you signed up to receive by email, agendas and minutes of local government meetings (city council, school board, board of supervisors etc.)? Do you work on political campaigns, staff phone banks, walk precincts or register voters?
Look, my animosity towards the Democratic Party is deep. The Clinton’s established elite rule, by destroying the grassroots. But WE let them do it. Obama begged us to “force him” to do what he was ready, willing and oh so very capable of doing. All we needed us to do was protest, scream, yell, make our voices heard, but we were silent and afraid and lazy.
I’m voting for YOU — not Biden. Put Biden in the White House, and then work your tail off to build a 21st century grassroots party. You can’t do that unless you stop hiding behind a keyboard, and show your face, in public.
One million everyday street liberals is all we need to build a grassroots party so powerful, no one can touch us again. If you refuse to be one of the million, stop talking.
PS. by YOU, I mean YOU, not Marley K.
