In my family, people were always talking about politics, money, and religion. They were searching for understanding – not agreement. By the time we were 8 or 9 years old, we understood our government, how capitalism worked and had a solid moral foundation to build upon. We also knew that in Christian circles, these subjects were taboo, frowned upon and considered rude.
I’ve gotten to the point where I will not discuss Israel, with anyone, except Jews and black people. I often wonder if American Christians are so frightened and angry these days, because they have no experience with “toiling through the issues of the times.”
Mr. Kass, I admire your clarity and thank you for another excellent essay. 😊
