In answer to your question, I will make two separate comments. I begin by thanking you for your article pointing us to the American Psychiatric Association’s “Apology to People of Color for APA’s Role in Promoting, Perpetuating, and Failing to Challenge Racism, Racial Discrimination, and Human Hierarchy in U.S.”

The APA apology had a profoundly freeing effect on me. Over the next few days, I found myself reading with a more critical and open mind. Instead of resisting my urge to disagree with experts in psychiatry, neuroscience and social psychology, I freely acknowledged the inconsistencies and prejudices I had long observed. Interestingly enough, I also found myself rapidly identifying the ways in which scientific articles on genetics, brain studies, etc. (aka nature) had been subverted to uphold racial and cultural stereotypes (aka racist and classist propaganda). In most cases, it seemed the authors felt obligated to mention race, with no scientific findings to add – at all.
Without your direction, I might not never known how this kind of freedom felt. My second comment, offers an early result of my freed thinking.
