If I am wrong, please correct me, but the historical record suggests, strongly, that slaves heard and followed Christ far, far, far more clearly and closely than white people did. In fact, the civil rights movement was a truly Christ like movement. Near as I can tell, white preachers abandon Christ in order to serve "their" employers.
