I was a working Mom, and setting my priorities correctly was the only way I could work and Mom. The holidays gave us a few days, where all of us could be home together - without anyone but us.
We all made our presents for each other, so shopping was not our thing. We planned all our meals and made one big grocery trip, dividing up the list and getting it done fast.
For 2, 3 or 4 days, all we did was read, play board games, do jigsaw puzzles, talk, do crafts, cook, eat and take naps - together. By the time we had to rejoin the world we were relaxed, calm, rested and happy.
My kids are grown now, but the holiday are still the same - the time of year when we are free to spend a few days in the comfort of our family. For a few days, we are the only people in the world.
