I still read National Geographic on-line. A few years ago, National Geographic began pimping poverty, deprivation, and human misery.

In the midst of abject poverty, NG ‘guests’ stay in locations decked out like five-star hotels where ‘locals’ attend to their every need and whim. The price of a NG trip guarantees ‘clients’ the company of people just like them and everything they are accustomed to. Like the Sherpas who risk their lives to lead Europeans up Mount Everest, NG guarantees that locals will provide NG’s wealthy ‘clients’ success on any adventure they desire.

To date, I have not seen even one social media influencer gain access to even one of these “special” sites. The day that submersible carrying wealthy 'explorers' exploded in the ocean, I feared schadenfreude might engulf the planet.

Rural America is my home. I serve diner, gourmet, seven course, and homecooked thoughts — but spare me chain food served on thoughtless trains of thought.
