I buy my eggs from a neighbor for $2.00 a dozen (and he usually gives me 18 eggs). But I just checked and the price of a dozen eggs at our local Walmart today was $3.92. One year ago, they were $1.58 - that's a 60% increase.
Talk about monopolies, Walmart put three grocery stores out of business here, and now its the only grocery store left in town.
When the price of eggs went up, everything with eggs in it, went up too. I bake a lot, but in less than a year, the price of flour, sugar and butter has almost tripled.
Like clockwork, rents go up 10% a year.
Implemented in January 2023, the Democrats increased social security by 8.7%. Now the Republicans tell us they are cutting social security, Medicare, and food stamps. Anyone under age 65 is about to find themselves helping parents and other relatives. Obviously that is not possible. It doesn't matter if you make $40,000. or $400,000. a year, most people are living paycheck to paycheck.
The lack of money will rip even more families apart. So much for family values - right?
Sorry, but I have no solutions and no advice.
