I am not surprised. I used to host our town's open mic night and I absolutely loved it. Watching people, especially teenagers, go from insecure to confidence was really special.
I used to go into the coffee house an hour or so before we opened the show, to work with the kids. One teenager, named Jake, wrote two part spoken word pieces and we performed them together. Jake had a powerful voice, and anyone who heard his never looked down on him again. I don't have to tell you, how good it feels to be involved that way.
Stay saucy, but give your heart, mind and soul plenty of room to work and then, set them free.
PS I am really happy for you :)
