I am cracking up and remembering my family's 40 year long Hawaiian Spaghetti recipe war that was not resolved until one week after my mother died, when I discovered the original recipe in the tenth box of her papers that I opened. Nope, it was not Great Aunt Lucille's recipe, or Great-Grandmas, or Grandma's or Aunt Norma's or my mom's. It was instead, a Woman's Day Magazine recipe cut out by Great Aunt Lucille, copied on a mimeograph machine and mailed to all her sisters and sister's-in-law.

After Great-Aunt Lucille passed over, every woman in our family claimed credit for our entire family's Hawaiian Spaghetti recipe. Oh the trouble that recipe caused.

Rural America is my home. I serve diner, gourmet, seven course, and homecooked thoughts — but spare me chain food served on thoughtless trains of thought.
