How long does it take a child to be “normal” again after spending years in a concentration camp, watching the murder of his entire family, and suffering starvation, beatings, and the act of bearing witness on a daily basis?
Are we crucifying Elie Wiesel, because he was so weak, he lost faith in G-d while watching a child being lynched? Maybe we are criticizing Wiesel because he blamed G-d for abandoning his family? Perhaps, we think Wiesel should have had more compassion, empathy, and moral fiber than everybody else?
