Hmm, you waded into my territory. The parallels are too glaring for me to resist a comment.

In land-use law, “blight” means that:

• The property is uninhabitable

• The property is unsafe

• The property has been abandoned (usually at least 1 year)

• The property presents an imminent danger to other people or property

“Blight” is the foundation of eminent domain laws. If and when, a piece of private property presents a danger to the public, the law holds local government responsible for correcting the problems. If government fails to fulfill its responsibility, taxpayers are held financially responsible.

For example, if a kid gets hurt in an abandoned building, local taxpayers are on the hook for compensatory damages (medical treatments, medical bills, or any future expenses or damages that result from the child’s injury).

By design and intent, these laws hold local government (city or county) legally and financially responsible for assuring all property within its boundaries is safe and habitable. Unfortunately, every good and necessary law is subject to the abuse of those hunting for money.

As you might imagine, this section of land-use law is frequently abused by developers, big business and greedy politicians. Allowing private property owners to abandon property for long periods of time results in decay. Given enough time, entire neighborhoods will meet the criteria for blight and trigger local government’s ability to seize ALL property, ALL homes and ALL businesses within those neighborhoods by eminent domain. Once these neighborhoods are cleared out, the next step is re-development and property is sold dirt cheap to big developers – who make a fortune off “the project”.

Now I will try out your descriptive:

• These people make life uninhabitable

• These people are unsafe

• These people have abandoned civility

• These people present and imminent danger to other people.

Yup, blight white works.

Soon enough, huge chunks of taxpayer money will start pouring into the “re-habilitation” of blighted-whites (like the proud boys, KKK, 3-percenters, Neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and white Christian nationalists).
