Hannah-Jones wrote about American history. Why you think she should have included European history is beyond me. You do know that the Holocaust took place in Europe – right?

Hannah-Jones is talking about America, but you want her to talk about Nazi Germany and Nazi occupied Europe? That makes no sense to me – please explain.

If you want to talk about Jews, be accurate and include the fact that Dutch Jews controlled 10-17% of the Dutch slave trade in Dutch colonies (in South America and parts of the Caribbean). https://www.timesofisrael.com/how-culpable-were-dutch-jews-in-the-slave-trade/

Yes again, the Dutch, including Dutch Jews, owned slaves in the Dutch colony of New Amsterdam (known today as New York) as well as southern states. At the same time, Peter Stuyvesant, the Governor of New Amsterdam colony from 1647 to 1664 was a virulent antisemite. It would be another 170 years, in 1834, before Jews were emancipated in the Netherlands. Please explain your understanding of this history and its relationship to slavery.

So too, the Rothchilds, the famous banking family from Germany, were recently found to have been involved in the slave trade (accepting $3,000.00 collateral against a loan to a British plantation owner). https://www.haaretz.com/1.5075243?lts=1640869163889

You, very clearly, do not know this history, let alone have the capacity to explain it’s multi-faceted complexities, but you dare to single out Jews as a group of people that you think, need to be defended from the 1619 project.

I have no idea who you are, but you sound like a white, Anglo-Saxon, American man. If so, please explain the connection between white domination of this country and the following events in American history. What I am trying to find out is what makes so many white skinned, anglo-saxon-protestants, such violent racists?

American genocide, where an estimated 130 million Native Americans were murdered (in 1491, about 145 million people lived in the western hemisphere. By 1691, less than 10% of these people were still alive.

America dropped atomic bombs that killed over 200,000 innocent civilians in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Why weren’t atomic bombs dropped on Nazi Germany?

The different treatment between Japanese-American citizens and Nazi-Germany’s prisoners of war forced into internment camps, on American soil, during WWII.

The fact that more than 2-million Americans are locked inside a prison today.

America’s involvement in overthrowing democratically elected leaders in Iran, Iraq and South America, that led to the murder of tens of thousands of innocent men, women and children?

Again, please explain what the Holocaust has to do with the 1619 Project? Why did you single out the Jews, when people from every country on earth have opposed, fought, died, and worked to end slavery – while still others fought to sustain, and expand it? Again, why did you fail to cite Jews involvement in the slave trade, or their ownership of slaves?

In case you miss my point, let me spell it out. I want to know why white Christian people are so violent, and so cruel.

Rural America is my home. I serve diner, gourmet, seven course, and homecooked thoughts — but spare me chain food served on thoughtless trains of thought.
