For me, the episode with Adrien Brody stole the show. For the first time, we saw the Roy family forced out of their gilded cage, and Logan almost died. Brody’s character had used his wealth to fill his world with natural beauty and a gentle, peaceful coexistence. Thinking his home would be a place where the father and son could make peace, he’d forced Kendall and Logan to come to his island. It was still winter, and they were all wearing coats, but it was a clear day and Brody invited them on a walk along the grassy bluffs above the ocean. We can walk and talk he said. Along the way, a lovely picnic waited for them, but Logan could not relax. Logan was so far out of his element, he was disoriented, anxious and out of breath. On the walk back, Logan collapsed. A rescue team returned Logan to his cage.

For all the power Logan wielded inside his gilded cage, he did not have the strength for a short walk outside his cage. Like all caged birds, Logan could not fly away – he was trapped in his cage.

That episode revealed how small the Logan’s world truly was. They flew from one gilded cage to another, all around the world, but they were not sophisticated people, and could never leave gilded cages.

Logan died in the smallest gilded cage of all - alone in an airplane bathroom. He'd always flown too far above anyone who could have helped him.

Rural America is my home. I serve diner, gourmet, seven course, and homecooked thoughts — but spare me chain food served on thoughtless trains of thought.
