For centuries on end, people have served as the energy that powers corporate machines. Corporations consumed our bodies, minds, emotions and souls and left empty shells behind, without enough energy left to even imagine something different.

The film, the Matrix offered a much better deal. In exchange for human energy, the Matrix offered life inside fantasy worlds. I'm pretty sure people would take the Matrix deal over corporations in a heartbeat.

I still can't figure out why the Neo people kept trying to get out of that bargain. If you can live inside a world where you can do anything you want and never feel any pain at all, why would you choose reality?
