Dr. Brown made a similar observation and I thought it over. This morning I made a correction. I'm recording the original paragraphs below, so other people can follow the conversation.

Pointing my finger at billionaires may not be wise, or even accurate. However, the idea that it could be a convenient "out" or "excuse" for their followers had not occurred to me - and I will think about that very carefully.

When William Spivey first wrote on Thomas Jefferson's rape of Sally Hemmings, I began researching Jefferson from a different perspective. I wanted to know how Thomas Jefferson had acquired his land, money. and influence. Eventually, I asked the same questions about George Washington. This is a long subject, and I will do my best to write about it. For now, suffice to say, that inherited wealth enables a small handful of people to use their time to impose their will on everyone who must use their time to work - and earn a living. This pattern continues to this day.

Laura, I appreciate your guidance - thank you :)

These are the original paragraphs I edited...

After 50 years, the erasure of American eugenics history from our classrooms has left us severely disadvantaged and defenseless. The vast majority of Americans still believe that racism as we know it today, is rooted in slavery. Most Americans have no idea that after the civil war, white American eugenicists spent their fortunes, to teach, preach and drive racism deeper and deeper into popular culture for another 125 years. Worse yet, they expanded the definition of “racism” to include everyone who was NOT a White Anglo Saxon Protestant (aka WASP and Aryan).

Thanks to the wealth, power and influence of eugenic leaders, racism was driven deep into our economic, education, healthcare, land-use, social and political systems. For example, Jim Crow endured well into the 1970s. And more than 60,000 Americans, of all colors, plus an estimated 25–50% of Native Americans as young as 15, were forcibly sterilized.

Rural America is my home. I serve diner, gourmet, seven course, and homecooked thoughts — but spare me chain food served on thoughtless trains of thought.
