Like locusts, people moving out of cities, and building faux ranchettes, farmlets and vacation homes consume everything in their path. They remind me of that scene in the film, Independence Day when the president, Bill Pullman, gets inside the brains of the aliens.
While I'm at it, might as well say, the series Yellowstone, with Kevin Costner, captures the violence this invasion is evoking. And don't get me started on urban environmentalists like the Sierra Club (lord help us all).
