Ashok - Wei is speaking of people living in countries that were never colonized. In that part of the hemisphere, these countries include Japan, Turkey, Thailand, China, Afghanistan, Iran, Bhutan, Korea, Tonga and Mongolia. These countries trace self-rule as far back as ten thousand years, with change always coming from within (meaning change came from the will of the people, rather than outsiders).
India was colonized in 1608 and remained under colonial rule for 339 years. For that reason, a discussion of people who have never been introduced to western thinking does not apply to India. India has 400 years of experience with western thinking.
