Ah ha! You’re saying, the current system has separated parenting from teaching. What does a parent do, if the teaching part of the job is taken away? Wait!
That also explains something else. In the 1990s-early 2000s, when our kids were in school, their Dad and I kept up with their studies, adding, correcting, teaching and tutoring daily. For that reason, I could not figure out why so many parents were fighting to get religion into the classroom. Now I’m thinking, of course they were, they’d abdicated teaching to the schools. Teaching is the way parent’s integrate morals into their children’s thinking.
How the heck did that happen? Who, when, where and how were parents convinced to abdicate teaching? That answer matters. Parents teach their children how to be parent-teachers. Lose even one generation and every generation that follows has no example to follow and improve upon.
No wonder, parents struggled so hard with the covid lockdown.
Thank you so very much, for answering my question.
YOU are a good teacher — you have very lucky children.
