Ah, Bumpy… my millennial children remember their sense of betrayal rooted in Bush’s refusal to listen to the people who would fight Bush's war (meaning them).

Today’s protests are part answer to the betrayal of several generations of young people. For that reason, I think it worth a moment to stop and remember what the young remember.

Beginning in late 2002, large-scale protests against the Iraq War were held in many cities worldwide.

On February 15, 2003, millions of people protested in approximately 800 cities around the world. Listed by the 2004 Guinness Book of Records as the largest protest in human history, protests occurred among others in:

1. The United States

2. The United Kingdom: in London alone, up to one million protestors gathering in Hyde Park.

3. Spain: in Madrid alone, another large demonstration, also attended by perhaps around a million, took place.

4. Italy

7. Republic of Ireland

8. Canada, Australia

9. South Africa

10. Syria

11. India

12. Russia

13. South Korea

14. Japan

15. McMurdo Station in Antarctica.

After the invasion of Iraq, protests continued. I’ve heard estimates that all told, 30-40 Million people protested the Global War on Terror which lasted twenty years until the final pull out of Afghanistan in 2021.
