A word about the kids sets the record straight. Today, almost 400,000 American children are in foster care. 7% are infants. A whopping 30% are under 10 years of age.

43% are white. 22% are black. 22% are Hispanic. 5% are Asian.

When adjusted for population, West Virginia, Alaska and Montana have the highest rate of children in foster care. South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Idaho, Colorado and Utah have the lowest rate of children in foster care.

In JD Vance’s state of Ohio, the rate of children in foster care is 40% higher than New York.

If JD Vance wants to judge people by those who have children, the prize goes to Utah.

Rural America is my home. I serve diner, gourmet, seven course, and homecooked thoughts — but spare me chain food served on thoughtless trains of thought.
